The GTA Vice City map consists of two main islands connected by bridges, set in a fictionalized 1986 Miami. Vice City's map is divided into two distinct halves separated by a body of water.

Vice City Beach (West Island)

This is where the game begins. The west island features Ocean Beach, Washington Beach, and Vice Point. It contains the initial safehouses, several mission-giving characters, and a long stretch of beachfront. Key landmarks include the Ocean View Hotel (your starting safehouse), the North Point Mall, and the Pole Position Club.

Vice City Mainland (East Island)

The east island unlocks after completing the story mission "Phnom Penh '86" for Ricardo Diaz. It contains Little Havana, Little Haiti, Downtown, Prawn Island, Leaf Links Golf Course, Starfish Island, and the airport. The Vercetti Estate on Starfish Island becomes your primary base after the midpoint of the story.

The two islands are connected by three bridges: two road bridges and one that carries the elevated train track. During the early game, the bridges to the mainland are blocked. Attempting to cross triggers a four-star wanted level.

Package Hunting Tips

Packages are placed on rooftops, in alleys, underwater, inside buildings, and in other hidden spots. The most efficient approach is to work through one neighborhood at a time rather than criss-crossing the map. Use a helicopter from the Hyman Condo rooftop to access rooftop packages easily.
